How do you check fault codes on a Freightliner Cascadia? ›

If the car's computer ever encounters a problem, a fault code or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC), will be stored within the car's ECU memory. With a scanner plugged into the car's On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port you can read the list of codes stored, and therefore find out what the problem is.

ECU three is an indication of a code within the transmission control module. This is not the actual fault code but the identifier of what circuit and control module a problem exists.

CHS 71 identifies your chassis control module. Cab 33 indicates your SAM module. The fault codes are going to be on the subsequent screen. Those code numbers are going to tell the technician or anyone what circuit has a problem within the chassis control module.

Plug an OBD-II scanner into your vehicle's OBD port and reset it to clear the check engine light. Disconnecting and reconnecting your battery will restart your vehicle's computer and clear the light. Drive an older vehicle around for a few days after repairs. The light will go off on its own once the computer resets.

Reasons for these codes might include: A faulty catalytic converter. A failing oxygen sensor. Bad wiring to the oxygen sensor.

The Motor Control Module (MCM) monitors rail pressure during engine shut down and compares it to a stored learned value. If the bleed-down rate has changed due to leakage and it is below the learned value, this code will set.

This fault code is for your ambient temperature sensor circuit. You either have a problem with the wiring harness for that sensor or a failed sensor is most likely the cause.
